ACG held Economic and Tax Briefing, led by experts in the fields of economics, business, and tax

The Asian Consulting Group held the Economic and Tax Briefing on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 live at its Facebook page. The event was attended by government officials, economics experts, and tax experts. The event also marked the official launch of ACG’s International Roadshow, a series of lectures and seminars held all over the world intended to guide overseas Filipinos and foreigners on how to invest and do business in the Philippines.

The Economic and Tax Briefing was hosted by the President of StartUp Village, Mr. Carlo Calimon, with an opening message from Dr. Donald Lim, Chief Operating Officer of DITO CME and Chief Innovation Officer at Udenna Corporation. There was also a special message from Ms. Wea Bohol, Officer-in-Charge at DTI E-Commerce.

Prof. Viory Janeo led a discussion on macroeconomic updates, as well as on economic trends and the economic forecast for the near future. She noted indicators of positive growth, such as the GDP, the strong labor market, the increase in personal remittances, and more. She also discussed the different catalysts for growth in 2023.

Thereafter, ACG Founding Chairman and Chief Tax Advisor Mon Abrea discussed tax updates, such as updates on TRAIN Law, CREATE Law, priority tax measures, and other administrative tax measures. He explained the tax updates and how they would affect taxpayers and business owners.

After the presentations, the Economic and Tax Briefing also featured a forum on how to address the high inflation rate in the Philippines. The forum featured Mon Abrea, Prof. Viory Janeo, Dr. Winston Padojinog (President, University of Asia and the Pacific), and Atty. Beverly S. Milo (Bureau of Internal Revenue).

To close the event, DFA Assistant Secretary Jose Chan Gonzaga and Mr. Eric Caeg, President of the International Council for Small Business, gave the closing remarks.
